I have a few pleasant surprises,even coming from the g2 and g3
1)stock keyboard is solid
2)proximity sensors are light years better than g2 and g3. Maybe its the curve, but my fat face doesn't hit buttons while up to my ear talking on the phone.
3) the dialer is much smoother than my g3
4)while ear volume could be better (like g3),the speaker is much improved
5)Bluetooth connection has been smoother than g3 or g2

I'll see if any others come to me.

Unlike my Moto X 2013 that I just traded in for this the phone dialer actually works in landscape mode! This is great when G4 is in the car dock. I thought portrait only was a Google thing. Guess not...

I'm a bit surprised with how the plastic feels. I still plan on getting a black leather back, however the plastic doesn't feel cheap like many of the reviews have claimed. Overall build quality appears to be pretty good.

6) my quick remote never worked on my g3....works easily on g4. I also like the built in flashlight..

7) that ever so slight curve of the screen just really works. Aesthetically, it is just pleasing.

8) Bluetooth connection to my jaybird headphones is light years ahead of g3
9)that speaker really is louder

I ordered mine with the black leather from Verizon yesterday (replacing my Droid Turbo). Somewhat good news for you is that the black leather backs seem to cost much less out there in the wild (eBay, etc.). I want a red leather back and it's $70 at best (plus shipping and waiting for it to get here from Korea). I bought a really nice leather portfolio case for my G Pad 8.3 for about the same price a while back.

Whoa! I've trired to switch from SwiftKey plenty of times and I just miss it too much. Is there a black theme for the stock keyboard? I assume there is at least a dark theme?

If you're an 'accurate' typer, the stock keyboard will be good for you. I have lousy, fat fingers and my typing isn't always on point so I kind of rely a little on auto correct so Swiftkey caters to my style of typing perfectly!

I feel ya!

10) and this is an odd one. My g3 was difficult to connect the micro usb plug into....from day one until the last time. Significantly more the g2. The g4 is back to good.

I remember this, the G3 for whatever reason LG decided to angle the connection slightly.
