Went into my Verizon store for my first Droid when my upgrade time came. The salespeople at Verizon were seriously pushing the Fascinate over the DroidX and I drank the Koolaid and walked out with one. Kept it for 3 days, spotty reception at work, no GPS at my house and battery life horrible even with changes in the background, live wallpaper, etc. It's a great phone, just not for my needs.
Took it back and swapped for what I wanted, the Droid X ( salespeople still trying to talk me into staying with Fascinate). LOVE IT ! Reception, GPS blow the Fascinate out of the water and battery life is even MUCH better !
Any thoughts on why the Verizon folks seem to be really pushing the Fascinate? More availability? Higher commission? More profit?? or just the new kid on the block??

I think the Fascinate is priced higher. I'm glad you like the X better -- if the battery life is a lot better on it than the Fascinate I should've picked it as well. But the X was really never a contender for me because I refused to have another Motorola phone. I'm happy with my choice and I'm glad you're happy with yours. :)

Someone on these boards posted the results from a reputable website that tests battery life. The results were pretty impressive, given the fascinate wasnt out at the time the droid x stomped all other phones (galaxy S).

From I have notice with Verizon reps they always hype up the new devices even if the device doesn't live up to the hype.. The Fascinate isnt a bad device but I prefer my Droid X.

they hype it because it's new, also the rep could have liked samsung.

plus verizon loves bing! ;)

some days i think about getting a fascinate because of the unlocked bootloader, but the battery life on my x keeps me from doing it.

I got 2 Fascinates on release day using the BOGO deal.

I wanted to love the Fascinate, but there were too many software bugs and I wasn't going to be the guy that keeps the device hoping updates will be released to make it better.

Returned my Fascinate after a week for an X and I am happy with my decision. The X is on OTA 2.2, rooted, bootstrapped, deodexed, themed, and fully backed up.

My wife loves her Fascinate, but she had an Eris, so anything is better than that POS, lol.

This thread is too funny on a Droid X forum....who could have
guessed the response...!!
LMAO !!
I definetely preffer the X .... hub hub hub , snort snort... lol

Out of 6 posts, 3 of them have/were Fascinate owners... Sounds legit to me?

I have both the X and Fascinate, Gave the Fascinate to my dad, He loves is compared to his Pearl. I like the X better other than the Battery life Ive seen the Fascinate go 2 days without a charge where the X with all the same apps loaded can only go 8 to 10 hours! All in All I like both the 2.2 for the X gave me a battery life of about 14 hours so I can live with that!

it all dpends wether you want the MLED screen or the beast.. the droid X i think verizon just wants to push it out more since it kinda came out right after the droid 2 and x .. theres not going to be many sales on this phone.

Did it mention what the default settings were in order to get better battery life? Id love to know b/c my battery life isnt blowing me away. But I do love the phone.
