Swapping SD Cards

Who out there has swapped out their SD Cards and can provide a tutorial on exactly how to do it?

Unmount old one and remove
Insert new one into phone
Settings-sdcard-unmount-format
When formatting complete, unmount again
Remove from phone
Copy all files from old card to PC
Copy and paste all old files from PC to new card
When prompted to replace duplicate files select no.
Insert new card back into phone
Let sd scan run and you are done.

Or

Plug in your device to your PC
Create a folder on you PC called SDCard
Copy everything from you card to that folder on your PC
Unplug your device, remove old SD Card.
Put in your new SD Card and format it from the instructions above
Copy all fills from your PC to your new SD Card
Unplug your device and let your device scan your new card.

Either way will work.

I'd recommend option A simply on the fact that using the unmount option can potentially save card corruption. I've swapped out many cards, but without that option, I've had some show as corrupted when connected via usb set to mass storage. It can't hurt and can only benefit you in the long run to perform this extra step.

Will these methods work on my Motorola Droid Razr Maxx since I'm rooted with safestrap installed (and an "sdcard-ext" directory as well)? I have the stock 16 GB card in my Razr currently but wanna put my old 32 GB in if it's not too much hassle.

Those methods should work fine. The problem its that the sd-ext partition isn't going to show up on a fat32 system. But since you're rooted you probably have titanium backup or some other back up app and you should do a full back up of user apps and then partition your new card with sd-ext and a fat32. Try 4Ext from the market as a recovery image, its touch and it partitions and formats great.
