Swipe controls for Volume & brightness in video player...

Just swapped to a new tablet running Kit-Kat and finding a couple of little things annoying.

My old Jellybean tablet, using the stock video player, used to have swipe controls; vertical swiping on the RHS of the screen changed the volume, vertical swiping on the LHS changed the brightness, and horizontal swiping moved the media back and forth along it's timeline.

With my new tablet, touching the screen whilst a video is playing only pauses, nothing else :(

Had a poke around, but I can't find any way to reset that behaviour so far. Am I missing something obvious?

EDIT: just realised I had MX Player installed on my old tablet, so all sorted now. Thanks for the phenomenal response! :|

Welcome to Android Central! Glad you found the reason. Please be a bit more patient on these forums, which get hundreds of new posts each day. It's also helpful to post questions in the most appropriate forum. The KitKat forum doesn't get quite as heavy traffic as the General Help and How-To forum.
