Swipe to split not working all the time

Phone: Moto G Play 2023. Android 11. I use swipe to split a lot & it has an annoying issue. Every time I want to use it, swiping doesn't work...I have to go into settings, turn it off & turn it on again every time I want to use it, and when I turn it back on, I have to give it two different permissions again and THEN I can finally swipe & it will allow me to choose the apps. So it's like 11 or 12 extra clicks/swipes every time i want to use it. I use it for my work & have to turn it off temporarily to see use certain screens in our proprietary work app, so 8-10 times a day, I end up having to go into my settings...so around 100 extra clicks/swipes a day is kind of getting annoying. Has anyone else had this issue & found a fix for it?
