Why did they change how your phone unlocks in the last update? Now if I hit a button while it's in my pocket it fully unlocks and I end up with a bunch of apps open that I basically butt dialed. It used to be that you had to press a button then swipe the screen to open the phone.

Do you have any screen lock set on the phone? In the system settings for the lock screen, is there a Swipe Only option?

Also, see what happens if you set the Automatically Lock interval to Immediately.

Ok, but is there a Swipe Only option? If so, try selecting that, and then Automatically Lock Immediately.

there used to be a setting between swipe only and lock immediately. it used to be that if you closed your phone you could open it within 5 minutes by pressing a button then swiping without having to do the password. it was great because your phone didn't accidentally turn back on and butt dial in your pocket, but you also didn't have to use your password every freakin time you tried to open your phone.

Sorry if this is confusing, but it's always tricky to advise when I don't have the exact phone in question. Swipe Only and Automatically Lock Immediately should be in separate menus (the former in Lock Screen options, and the latter in the Automatically Lock options), so there wouldn't be an option in between.

Can you show a screenshot of the Settings>Lock Screen options?
