I have a storm 2 and i am eligible for a new phone. I love blackberry. I got the first storm, then second one and i love having emails to my phone, BBM and this touch screen. Some people hate it, i love it. Yet i have always loved the physical keyboard. Before BB i had envy ( original) and i loved typing on that. Now the droid 2 has a keyboard and touch screen and its temping. Not to mention faster internet.. But i feel i should wait. Do you guys think that the Droid 2 could be better. That maybe i should wait until the next droid comes out? I know there will always be better things, but im in no rush.. Any opinions? Thanks!

Well, since I just came from my original Storm 1 in August, I will give you my opinion. I had the storm for a year and a half. The only way I kept it that long was that I was always upgrading to the latest hybrid os's on crackberry. I squeezed all I could out of it. I was never much of a bbm user. Some bb users say they miss bbm, but gtalk is good. I usually just text.

D2 is superior to bb in most ways. I dont use enterprise email, but I have read that android is both adequate and not. YMMV.

I got the D2 when my storm crapped out because there were no Dx's or Dinc's in stock. I figured I would swap for one of those within the 30 days. Last sunday, I went to my local vzw store to try out all the phones again before my 30 are up. I tried out all the android phones, storm 2 and bold. I never thought I would, but trying out the all screen phones, I really missed the D2 keyboard. The best thing about it is freeing up all that screen when you pull out the keyboard. The precision is good and everything is predictable. Kinda like a bb keyboard, just different? When I tried out the storm 2 and bold, I knew I would never go back to bb. It was familiar and..... blah. I am so very happy with android vs bb.

I left the store with my D2 and was very happy to do so. I like the other droid phones, but the D2 is Ausome! I am very happy with it.

I had a 9500 and I won't look back android has been to good to me. But that's not to say its without faults, I have stopped using my yahoo mail because on wifi it never worked, though gmail is great almost instant. So to me if you are huge on email and that's your number one priority then bb may be good for you. But if email is up their but you want a total package try android you may just love it

If you're in no hurry, I'd wait to see what comes out for the holiday season. That seems to be a big time of the year when new phones come out, and then the market slows down a bit (kind of where we are now until about November). There is a rumor of a HTC slider world phone (maybe Merge?) for November release. So, if you prefer sliders and can wait, I'd recommend seeing what the holiday season brings. If nothing else peaks your interest, then you can still get a Droid2, and probably at a better deal than what you can get now.

The thing that I disliked about my BB Storms, both 1 and 2 both was the memory bleed. RIM, doesn't seem to be interested in fixing that problem with their OS and phones.

I agree wit DSCR and thebizz. I converted from a Storm 1 about a week ago and am not looking back. Some learning curve issues but hey new operating system. Like DSCR, after the first week I went back to compare the X and INC along with Storm 2 and BOLD. Walked out of store convinced D2 was the right answer. the only thing i liked better about the BB was the way it formated the inbox by date but that is a personal preference. (I also dont use an exchange server for e-mail. I've heard/read good and bad about that experience. You'll have to judge for yourself.)

There may be some advantage in waiting until holiday season but there will always be something better coming down the pipe so if you're ready, go now.

Same here! I converted from a Storm 1 to a D2 this past Tuesday. Although I haven't had enough time to really dive into my new phone, I've been amazed at the speed difference. The operating system is much faster but the internet makes my BB Storm's internet look like the old dial-up connections.

With regard to waiting until the holidays to see if anything better comes out, I would go ahead and grab a new phone if the only thing holding you back is the fear that new versions will be out in a few months. In this day and age, you really can't get a piece of technology without it being dated within a few months. If you keep holding off to see what's coming next, you'll never end up getting anything (which means no new toys).

The reason that I brought up waiting until the holiday season is that this time of year (along with the summer) has traditionally been when new phones are released and the carriers have nice promotions, i.e., peak times of the year for new phone releases and good deals. And the same is expected this year. In between these times, the release of new phones slows down. Obviously there will always be something better down the road, as is always the case with technology. But, a peak time is coming soon and if the OP can wait, it might be more advantageous to do so.

I'm in a very similar situation and I'm going to wait until the holiday season. Right now, I'm looking at the Droid 2, but if there are other sliders that are released this holiday season, then I'm going to check them out. Depending on what I like at that point will determine which way I go, either a new release phone or Droid 2 (which will be less and might have an additional promotion with it).

I retired my S1 on the 8 th and got this D2. First, I do not like sliders or physical keyboards. My hands are large and physical keyboards are just to small. HOWEVER, I can actually use the physical keyboard on D2 and often do when I need more screen space.

As far as waiting goes, depends on how satisfied you are with the. S1. You work so hard to make them proficent, it is difficult to give them up.

If you want a phone that is closer to a computer than any droid is a choice.

The only really big complaint I have is there is no Facebook app for android that is as good as the BB or iPhone versions.

I advise that if you wait, study android. Read the forum here about hacking, what ROM's are and so on. Search and watch videos a out how to. Learn what rooting is.

Learn how to nick up what is called ur" stock rom" then how to root. None of it is easy, but learn as much as you can. Score going to android.
