I had a G2, note 3, S4 and moto x. I am now using a nexus 5 quite happily. I stayed with the nexus because I like to flash ROMs and tweak. The X is such an excellent device though and I do miss several features, many of which I was able to duplicate with a custom ROM. If you like to customize get the developer edition X because you void warranty by unlocking bootloader on other X versions and can't hide that fact.

Also, I found Motorola's customer service and warranty service top notch (i replaced a couple devices) and suspect they would warranty a device even with an unlocked bootloader.

This is my 5th x. I keep going to other phones that are newer and bigger. But always keep coming back. The moto x just works. And the features are actually useful.

I have had an iPhone 5, HTC One and most recently a S4. The Moto x is hands down smoother and more useful than any of the previous. Love this little phone!

I came from a note 2. The size of the note started to bother me. The moto x is much easier to use and the software is so much better. I don't know what I would do without active notifications now. The thing I do miss from the note 2 is the camera. It was much better on the note 2. The camera on the moto x isn't terrible but it is definitely the weak point of the phone and would be the reason I switch to a different phone if I do. I don't see switching for a long time though.

Active display u can get on 4.4 devices

It doesn't work the same, or as well though. I've tried several different active display apps. Not to mention that they drain your battery...especially on a LCD screen.

I came from the Galaxy S4 too the Moto X. The S4 may have better specs on paper, but the Moto works better because it had pure Android. I consider the Moto X the best phone I've ever used, and I will tell you now that I am going to buy the next version of it.

PS. The software updates are also much faster on the Moto X because of the pure Android. Motorola beat every other manufacturer when KitKat came out. They had the Moto X updated in like 19 days.

I had the Note 2 and I got my Moto X due to the glitch Verizon had. I was able to keep my unlimited data when I upgraded. I sold my Note 2 to my friend and I have never looked back. My Moto X is great!

So should I go back

Only you can decide that, but stock android will always allow Motorola to get you updates quicker. Not to mention touchwhiz is a system hogging, bloated, ugly, piece of crap.

I have the iPhone 5s. I tried the Galaxy s5 and the HTC m8. I returned them both and revived my old moto X to use as my android unit. In my opinion the Moto X it's still the best Android phone.

Had a Note 2 and got the Moto X as a backup in December. After using the X for a couple of days, it became my daily driver. I had not used my Note 2 since then but swapped SIM cards this week after picking up a Nano to Micro adapter and used the Note 2 for a couple of days. While the larger screen is useful for a few things I do for work, I am back to using my Moto X. It just has too many specifically unique features that I can't do without. People are still amazed at what this phone can do and are surprised that they have not heard more about it.

not really...no device can actually mimic Moto X active display since it is a native function, has a dedicated chip on the x8 Motorola architeture to help saving battery and the AMOLED screen is also ideal for this type of function, since the black are turned off leds!

you can try apps on other devices but it will just never be the same not equally integrated and natural as it is on the Moto X...and if you're on a LCD screen, i pity your battery ._.
