So for the past few weeks I have been using a iPhone 5S,coming from a nexus 4.

There's some thoughts I have on this, and even maybe a few laments. Here's my thoughts:

First of all, I love the battery on the iPhone compared to my nexus 4. I can actually get through a full day, unlike the nexus 4. Plus, the cameras a lot better.

Bit the thing I'm finding annoying is software and services related. For example, apps working together. On android it was easy to share stuff with apps. On iOS, it seems like I have to go through a few more steps.

Plus, Google now is pretty useless on iOS compared to android.

So while the I phones hardware fixed my issues I had with the nexus 4, I'm perhaps lamenting the switch from a software perspective,

The iPhone is under attnext, so I can't make a switch back to android even if I wanted to.

So, those are just some thoughts. I do still have my nexus 7, so I'm still in android in a sense. But I'm kinda wondering if I made the right choice with my phone. the longer I have it, the more I'm locked into apple.

You are never locked in as long as you don't mind a few bucks out of pocket.
The iPhone has the highest resale value of any phone on the planet. With AT&T next, you are not under contract on the line with a Next upgrade, but if you decide you want out of that line, you simply have to pay off the phone. The 16Gb iPhone 5S sells for $649 + tax which where I live comes out to $701
You should be able to get $500 out of the phone fairly easy using ebay/craigslist etc. So in that situation, the worse you have to come out of pocket is the remaining $149
You pay the Taxes up front when you get the Next device.

You can then turn around and add another line, use the next program again and get whatever you want.
Takes a little work and a small amount of cash, but getting out of any phone is easy if you just do it.

I can't tell you if the iPhone 5S is better than another device. That is a question only You can answer. I have used nothing but iPhone for the last 4-5 years. I recently went to the Moto X and I think it is better than the 5S in nearly everything other than Email (apples email client is the best) and camera is slightly better on 5S.

I have tried the LG Optimus G Pro, Galaxy S3 and S4, HTC Titan (WP7), every iPhone ever made, and the Moto X. Until the Moto X, I always missed iOS and went back. I am one of the few that doesn't hate iOS 7, but I can say one thing for sure. It was NOT ready for the public. It was released with a plethora of bugs and glitches.

When I bought the Moto X, I had the iPhone 5S and my intent was to keep both and carry both. I couldn't lose that way, having the best of both worlds.
3 Weeks with the Moto X and the iPhone is sold and gone. Used the money I made to ETF 2 lines.

My next toy will be the Note 3 or Nexus 5 ... I may buy a 4S if I find one uber cheap just to throw in the desk drawer. But I would have to find someone almost giving it away for that to happen.
I Love Apple. I love iOS and iPhone. The Moto X may have just converted me permanently. I will look at apple again when they get a real screen and not some puny 4"

Funny story, I was in the AT&T store to pick up my iPhone 5s. The sales girl was beautiful, she looked like Kim Kardashian a bit. When she helped came to help me out the first thing I told her was, "Please forgive me for saying so but you're just devastatingly beautiful." She took $150 off my phone...I even asked her about it and she told me it looked right to her and flashed a megawatt smile at me. I'll be complimenting sales ladies for a while (unless with the boss, of course.)

from a '14 Note 10.1

Well one you're comparing the Iphone 5s (recently released) to a Nexus 4 (last year released)
If you compare the Iphone 5s battery vs lets say a more up to date phone the G2 then it might be par or even better on Android. Considering you like 5 inch and above phones.

I used IOS for a couple months (Iphone 4) and I was a complete "IOS is king" guy but after 4 months of using it, i became bored of it. The 2012 Nexus 7 enticed me to try Android. It did not disappoint. Widgets and the customization was for me. I enjoyed having a different keyboard if I wanted to, Icons, and back then IOS 6 didnt have the quick settings. and As you said with the apps working together, it was pretty amazing when it lets me choose which browser to use for opening links instead of being force to use safari. The price of the Nexus was also a plus. Also what made my jump ships is that Android offers bigger phone screens and 1080p ones... Retina doesnt really cut it for me.

However, I believe you can still enjoy IOS. it may not be as customizable and open as Android. But it does its job right. Quick to do web searches, easy access to the camera, and great gaming. Its like having a beast phone with easy mode turned on ... (and only way to turn it off is by jailbreaking) It's not a huge loss. The Fingerprint sensor is still awesome.

This sounds like the maneuvering I pull off when I want a new device:)
