Hi everyone I am in the verge of switching from apple to android I got my self the original nexus 7 tablet for free and so far enjoying the experience.

I am looking to convert everything from apple to android get s better tablet and phone and chromebook.

For phone I am a bit confused I wrote a post in android general and they basically told me nexus moto 2014 will be a good switch from iOS I really did like the moto x 2014 but there is no availability yet in Canada and no moto maker which kinda got me less interested. The nexus 5 I don't know if in want a year old phone I probably could wait for the new nexus I went and saw the lg g3 and it really felt good in the hand plus the camera seemed really good since I just had twins it is not a deal breaker but a plus. The only thing that gets me worried is i noticed a lot of comments were lg was really behind on updates they seem to be no roms I didn't mind leaarning to root and put on Roms if needed. The new android l interface looks really good to me and would like a phone that will get it sometime soon

Then comes the HTC m8 which was also nice but 6+ month old again not to sure I want that

Thanks for listening and if anyone can chime in on the lg g3 it will be appreciated with any feedback

Get it.

You'll enjoy it. I chose the G3 as well and it's pretty amazing

Updates as Belodion mentions seem to be great I have had 3 also as we both live in the same country well almost but that's a different story :-P

The G3 covers all bases and pretty well tbh and like any phone it has weaknesses but the strengths are impressive :-)

I like the M8 and was on my radar but the Nano sim & camera swayed me away and then Lg came with the G3 and I have been using it over my Z2 since launch.

I would recommend give it the 14 day trial, I'm sure you won't be returning :-)

Could you not buy unlocked, like the Scotsman and the Englishman here? Remove the carrier from the equation?

Ok cannot buy unlocked from lg is is safe to buy from ebay I heard horror stories of phones that are fake

If I buy the phone from a carrier and get it unlocked does that mean I still need to wait for the carrier updates or does it become straight

Thanks everyone for the help

I don't know whether Canadian carriers sell unlocked phones. Only one UK carrier does. If you unlock it yourself or have that done, it may be illegal...you'd have to check.
Why not buy an unlocked device from a Canadian phone store?

If you really want to use the Android L update then you should wait for the next Nexus. LG, Samsung, and HTC are all going to pick and choose elements of L to put into their own software, so it's not going to be like the preview that you saw.

I've used LG and Samsung and HTC phones for years. Samsung and LG have both Web pretty slow with updates in the past. HTC has gotten faster recently and Motorola has been the fastest since Google bought them.

Irrowley it's not the l interface I really care about even thou I personally think it looks really good but it is more the features I like the feature of everything working together I cannot remember the name but from the phone to a tablet to the watch to the laptop I would think they all need to be same version for it to work or did I miss understand since you had all 3 major companies which one do you prefere

I used to love Samsung, but I've found that they've junked up their software by including tons of interesting, but not very practical, features. But they are th4 top selling Android manufacturer by a long shot, and there's a reason for that. Even though they do drive me a bit crazy a lot of people really like them.

As another Korean company LG is in hot competition with Samsung. They've tended to copy what Samsung does, but without making it over the top like Samsung does. I've had all their US flagship phones from the past couple years and they do really good things, and they're getting better. Using a analogy about cars, Samsung is like Honda/Toyota and LG is like Hyundai; LG has gotten much better and is giving Samsung a real run for its money.

HTC builds great phones and has the best software too. I would probably have an M8 right now if they had used a better camera. 4 megapixels just isn't enough for me.

Because of all of this I'm pretty high on LG right now, and I love my G3. I will admit that my wife's Samsung GS5 is pretty impressive too though
