I've had the HTC One M8 since September and while I do like this phone, the random lagginess and stutters are driving me insane. Bundle that with the terrible camera (thought I could deal with this) and it's making this phone long in the tooth. Needless to say I'm done with HTC. I'm looking to switch and while the iPhone 6 Plus is at the top of my list (the devil I know) I'd like to stay Android (just a better OS experience IMO). With all this in mind, if I stay with Android I'm pretty much set on going strict Google. No OEM. No skins. Just Android.

Has anyone found any stutter/lag issues with the Nexus 6? The HTC One M8 has always been regarded as the fastest phone on the market and while it's definitely fast, it just seems to randomly chug and come to a grinding stop. Is this an HTC thing or an Android thing?

Apparently there was odd lag when the Nexus 6 launched, but for most people 5.1 has cleared that up completely. My device is a week old and got 5.1 immediately, and it's never had any lag issues at all.

Havent had much if any lag, then again I haven't had it too long. Coming from a M8 myself, the power button location and lack of double tap was very odd for a few days.

I hear that 5.1 did make a big difference, but of course no one's reviewed the phone post lolipop. Have you guys noticed any delays when opening the application switcher or delays when trying to bring up the keyboard? These are two of my biggest gripes with my current phone.

None at all on my device. The closest thing I have to lag anywhere is when switching in the camera interface between HDR+/no HDR+. For better or worse I've only had my device for 10 days or so.

Unfortunately the lollipop update did bring out flaws in m8 and created issues . my friend owns a m8 and has had nothing but problems with his phone. Lags, Wi-Fi connection issues, screen issue..... Since 5.1 on my n6 my battery life has improved greatly and my phone seems to run better...

Weird. I've had an M8 as long as Metrix, but I've experienced no lag or stuttering. Same goes for my post-Lollipop experience. In fact, if I hadn't watched the OTA download and install, I wouldn't have known that the M8's OS had changed at all. It was a smooth operator on KitKat, and it continues to be same on 5.0.1. The only discernible changes I've noticed came with the updates HTC pushed out after the release of the M9, especially the changes to Blinkfeed/Sense Home, which I've really enjoyed. I have never had a wifi connection issue, either, and my only problem with the display is that the ****er's not big enough (I wish it were 5.5") and it's not really bright enough to be much use outdoors.

I can't honestly say that the Lollipop update made things worse, but they definitely are there. It's really the random pauses or when the phone comes to a screeching halt for a few seconds that kills me. I definitely like the additions in the latest version of Sense, but I really prefer the Google Now launcher. However, GNL seems to have gotten slower after the update and thus I'm using Sense again.

Like the Verge said regarding the Nexus 6, "...everything is fast until it's not — I'm getting intermittent and infuriating pauses in certain tasks." This is how I feel about the M8. Just hoping this issue is fixed on the Nexus 6, otherwise it'll be back to iPhone for me.

That was pre 5.1. I've not seen any sort of slowdown. I've only had the phone for two weeks, but that's at least as long as The Verge reviewer.
