Switching plans or services question

Sorry for the dumb question but I'm new to Verizon after having Sprint for 6 years. I have 500 text messages added on to my plan thinking that would be enough. Well....I was wrong. My bill date isn't until 8/10 and I only have 60 texts left. My question is, if I switch to an unlimited text plan or even the 5000 message block of texts, does it take effect retroactively or do i have to wait for the new bill?

I would call into customer service and try and get it done. Plans can be backdated, but things can be a bit more complicated for new accounts. If you're still in your 30 days, and you got it at a store, try there as well. if you're in the 30 days and you change, that store gets commission for it, so they would do what they could to fix your issue.

Unlimited plans can be backdated (Nationwide Talk and Text) but ANY bundle plan, such as the 500 or 5000 bundle cannot.

When you call into them, explain your situation, and ask them if it would be possible for them to backdate your plan to change it to a nationwide talk and text plan. If they can do it, it's retroactive.

EDIT: This is assuming that your bill cycle date isn't until the date you gave. Bill cycles are not the same thing as bill due dates.

If you get the right person on the other end they will work with you cause your upgrading this happened to me be also.. Happens with minutes also verizon has something like rollover minutes i have an extra 2000 mins on my plan it last the years of the contract..

Do they work like AT&T? Iv'e never heard of Verizon doing this.

It's not like rollover minutes.

What they have are special promotions. One of them is a "extra 100 minutes per month" type deal where you get some extra minutes every month for your contract, this doesn't rollover.

The other is a thing where if you rarely go over, and it's only by a little amount, sometimes customer services can offer something like an extra "bucket" of 500 minutes that will carry from month to month. So if you have a 700 minute plan and use 750, your bucket would drop to 450 for the next month. so in this sense, it "rolls over" but it doesn't grow.. make sense? I have NO idea how to get this option and in the two years I sold for verizon, I only ever saw one account with it, so it's got to be pretty rare.

Well I talked to Verizon today and they changed my text plan to the 5000 text plan including this current billing period. I seriously can't believe how much easier this stuff is on Verizon compared to Sprint. I'm so impressed with every aspect of Verizon.

Glad they were able to fix it for you. :)

Verizon's pretty good at getting customers into the right plan. The only time they really give you a hassle about adding/removing stuff and backdating is if you're habitual at it (aka, the customer that refuses to get the higher rate plan, and calls in about overages every month, etc)
