Swype converts?

I've noticed that no matter how much you use a virtual keyboard you cant hit the muscle memory/accuracy level of a physical keyboard when it comes to typing without looking. Swype however, lets you memorize gestures for words, and doesn't require you to be a hundred percent accurate to get that word out. Also, swype is the only keyboard I've been able use one handed faster than 20 wpm. I love swype.

I'm actually getting really good at the memorizing virtual keyboard, its less about feeling the keys as it is remembering the amount of space to use. Just my two cents.

I wish there was a setting to have different keyboards in different orientations. I like swype but not in landscape... i would prefer the regular keyboard in landscape.

It is fairly easy to switch. Just long press the data entry area you are looking to type in and a menu will come up that has text input as a choice. You can the select any keyboard you have loaded on your device.

I did swype for 3-4 days. I can tap quicker than i can swype easily...i felt like I was actually having to think about how to spell things and where I needed to go on the keyboard where with tapping its just second nature. I didn't like the lack of autocorrection, and the small keys when you tap something instead of swype.

I was intimated by swype at first...came over from a qwerty bb and I also used an itouch a lot when at home...but after a couple days of swype,i will say this about it- 1. I agree with the poster that said it made them not miss the qwerty-i find it to be just as fast sometimes 2. It has made my itouch unusable for email, facebook, etc. I am always trying to swype it, it's disappointing!
?Viva swype!

I don't believe this is true. I could type entire messages on my iPhone without looking. It will come in time young grasshopper. I'm already starting to get it with the Droid X. Only thing that kills me is the TINY space bar, and the stupid second set of punctuation next to it.

i posted a whole thread about this, but how in gods name do you delete a factory installed word with swype on a droid x? ive followed the directions dozens of times and i just cant get rid of "utah" (shows up 50% of the time i type yeah)

I love using Swype in portrait mode when the time calls for it. Landscape is very ehh because I can type like a speed demon with the regular multi-touch keyboard. I usually just default to the regular keyboard and show off Swype to my friends.

I agree... Swype=meh

If you are a "hunt and peck" typist.. then swype is the bee-knees. The better the typist, the less impressive swype is... IMO.

I dunno if i'm late in the game in finding this but if you super-long-press a key it will show all the available characters for it.

So..
normal press = standard letter
long press = secondary character.
super-long-press = all characters for that key.

I really like swype a lot. I thought I was going to miss the keyboard on my curve but I really haven't.
Came from a Tour. Now it makes a great qwerty alarm clock...
Swype is great, though I'm still making a few errors (and I don't tend to review my texts before I send, so there were some weird texts that went out, lol), so I adjusted the setting for more accuracy with less speed.
DUH. I forgot about that setting. Thank you!

+1 except for me it's "wasn't" when I mean "want".

Maybe I missed this in the thread and if so I am sorry but..... Can Swype be set to insert a space after each typed/swyped word? I went into settings and checked "Auto Spacing" but I still have to hit space after each word.

Any ideas?

That is the fix... do you have auto-puncuation on too?

As a Palm>Curve>Storm>DX user, I was skeptical of swype and turned it off after 1 day. Then I read this thread and went back. Now I am fully converted and get irritated when I have to 'type' on my wife's phone

Fix No Workie! :(

Swype does not have an "Auto Punctuation" setting. the Droid keyboard does but not swype. I tried unchecking "Auto Capitalization" in the Swype settings but that did not help.

Is it possible to delete swype and reload it? Maybe that would work?

The no spacing thing is not a big deal but it does slow you down a bit. It would be nice to have it working.

Okay my question, which has probably been answered is when I type a sentence and wanted to add a period is there an easy way to do this in swype or adding a question mark or numbers?

Well, it kept "not working" for a while. Rebooted one more time and it seems to work now. Weird?
