sync contacts off phone to google

so ive always used back up assistant to sync my contacts, a while ago i was surfing on google and saw all my contacts under google/contacts i didnt want them so i deleted them all because i always used back up assistant.. now i want to use both but all my old contacts wont sync to google, only new ones i add to my phone.. im guessing it figures since i deleted them to not add them.. is there a way i can get them to start syncing again.

start with: Go to Settings - Accounts - and touch your gmail account. make sure "sync contacts" is selected.

yeah all that was selected, basically since i deleted the contacts off Google end it would ignore them when it synced. what i had to do was export my phone book in a vcf file then inport it to google
