Sync Email ... is it on "sync" or off "sync"

I am confused by the description of "Sync Settings" in Android Email Version 5.0.0.0400.

When the setting "Sync Email" is unchecked it shows "Sync turned off". However, when it is checked it shows "Master sync has been turned off". It sounds like the same "not sync" setting...so do I check or uncheck to synchronize my emails?

Where is this "Master sync"? I've used this stock Samsung email app for four years; now it's not synchronizing at all.

The main sync is in the settings under accounts. Make sure this is turned on. If it's on already, try turning it off then back on.
