i think its a phone issue. i have the 2 new galaxy mega models. Sync works fine on the 5.8 model but not on the 6.3!

Sync Error on my Razr

I noticed last week that my Contacts haven't synced since December 9th. I get that same error, "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." I have tried repeatedly at different times of the day, to no avail. The Verizon backup assistant is having no issues. (Although I'd love to know how to disable it.) My phone is a Droid Razr and the Android version is 4.1.2. I was going to try that "disabling Calendar sync" idea mentioned above, but it's not set up to sync. I'll keep looking. I've had this phone for two years and am still learning new things about it. Oh, I also tried that "Fix Contacts Sync" idea. It found 0 broken contacts. It shows a bunch of "Fake system group: My Contacts - xxxx", the Xs being the different email accounts I have. When I click on Send Log, it tells me there is "No useful error log found."

*** Solved this on Experia M2 *** NB should work for pretty much any Android device

After importing 187 contacts from an iphone VCF file "I got the dreaded sync is not working, please try again later"

Installed Contacts Sync Fix and ran it
- Helpfully it showed me there were broken contacts and which contacts group they were in
- Unhelpfully it didnt actually tell me which ones were faulty
- Helpfully it told me there were seven

I then moved contacts to a different group 20 at a time (you could do 50 ata time or more if you have masses of contacts)
After each move I re-ran Contacts Sync Fix until the failed contacts showed up in a different group
This narrowed it down to 20
Then moved them again 7 at a time

This way I was able to identify the seven and delete them - hey presto contacts were then able to sync successfully

Hope this helps someone else in the same situation

Carlos' suggestion worked for me "Have you tried removing the Google account AND clearing the data for the Contacts Storage app (Settings, Application Manager, All) ?" - clearing the data was the bit I'd not tried before.

You guys are angels...I haven't had my calendar in days because of a sync error! Reading this thread saved it! settings-app manager-then at the top I clicked "turned off"- then I turned my calendar storage back on. Not sure how it got turned off, but this thread helped me so much! I also had to restart the phone.

I have trawled for days, trying to resolve the sync error issue. In desperation I deleted the Dropbox and Zoner accounts and SUCCESS! It wasn't Google account(s) but other accounts causing the error.
