I just set up my EVO and when I added the Facebook app it synced it added all my gmail contacts with their Facebook photos. I thought this was pretty slick until I realized it also added all my Facebook friends to my contacts. This was a pain because when i'd search my contacts I had all of the random Facebook friends in there.

I searched through the forums last night and found out how to un-sync the Facebook app with my contacts but now I don't have the pictures anymore.

Is there a way to sync Facebook photos to my gmail contacts without it also adding all my Facebook Friends as contacts?

Thanks, this is my first Android phone and I am impressed with it over my previous two phones (iPhone 3G and BB Tour).

there should be an option in the facebook sync to only sync facebook info for people already in your contacts. open the facebook app and press menu>settings>sync contacts>sync with existing contacts. should do the trick

Thanks for the help.

In the Facebook app under menu>settings I don't have the option for "sync contacts" or any type of "sync" options for that matter.

interesting. it could be that the facebook app on sense doesnt have that filter option in the settings? i am using a moto droid which runs stock android. you could also open up the settings in your contact list and see if there are any filter options in there as well. unfortunately, my experience with sense UI is minimal

Facebook Doesn't Update All Contacts

Why won't my Facebook app uddate all of the pictures in my contacts? It updates most, but not all.

it only updates the contact if the name of the contact in your phone matches the contact name exactly as it is on facebook. also, if the person doesnt have their phone number on their facebook profile, it wont auto sync. yuo should be able to manually join contacts on your phone, however. go to the contact you want to join, edit that contact and hit the menu key when in the edit screen. there should be a "join" option, and when you press that a list of similar contacts should pop up for you to join to that contact. (this is how it works in stock, anyway)
