Sync questions

I have 2 questions ... hoping someone can help me with this.

1. I have rooted my phone, do I need to do verizon backup assistant sync to save my contacts?

2. If I want to sync my contacts (just the contacts from my phone, which is name and numbers) to my google account, but I dont want ALL my google email addresses sync'd under "people" on my phone, can I do that? How?

Just export your contacts to gmail and then they will always sync back from the cloud.

The bottom line is, if you export your contacts to gmail, then you never have to worry about them ever again. They just automatically sync back whenever you change roms or phones.
