When I first got my TB, the sync went fine, now I can't get it to connect half the time, and then only for a few seconds.

I have searched the internet, HTC TB Forums, and here, and haven't been able to really find much of an answer.

Anyone having the same problem and if you got it working, how so?

Thanks in advance.

I've really never gotten HTC sync to work on my laptop.
I sync almost everything through the 'cloud' using Sugarsync.
For large items, like videos and lots of music, I pull the card and insert it in an adapter.

Couple of things...

If you have changed the USB port you usually use for this, that can sometimes affect this. Also, you might want to look at this thread to get the latest version of HTC Sync: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...w-version-htc-sync-available.html#post1176587.

Also, I have found that if the VCast Manager version is mismatched (older I guess) to the HTC Sync version, that it can cause issues. I don't know why. But you might want to start the VCast Manager app and select Help and Update to see if you have the latest version. This once made the difference for me on if the HTC Sync program would auto-start or not. Somehow it seems that these two programs communicate.

That's all I have. I don't use the HTC Sync program regularly. Primarily I use it because it is required in order to run/enable "No Root Screenshot It" from the Market, which I do run. :)

Thanks for the great responses. I have been away and not been able to respond.

I don't have VCast installed and don't use it (haven't a clue what its for).

I have updated HTC Sync every time and still nothing.

So I've gone to Google Calendar and moved my contacts to GMail -- I just hope they never get lost!

Thanks!

You can also export them from Google as a "csv" file and save them elsewhere. Additionally, you can export them from your phone to your SD card and then copy and save them elsewhere. You can also use a backup program such as "My Backup" from the Market. Lots of alternatives for contact backup other than direct Outlook sync.

My contacts are super important to me (almost 800). I have a number of backups of them. What I do to keep my PC Outlook up to date is simply export them occasionally from the Gmail Web interface into a Windows CSV file and then import that into my Outlook. There is an option for that in the Web Gmail interface. My contacts don't change that often. I add one about a few times a month.
