System locks up - Screen, ringer.

I have had my droid Raxr Maxx for about 2 months now. I charge the battery every other day. I get about 48 hours out of a 3 hour charge. i know I am not using it much and think the battery life is GREAT. But my phone has stopped ringing on 3 or 4 days, and all the settings are on ring, but it will not make a sound. Then I have been doing something on it and the screen will lock up and go no where. Every time either thing happens, I have to hold all the buttons down and let the system shut down and re-start, and then the system seems to work just fine again. No idea of what is going on, does anyone have any ideas? Also, when I get an incoming call, the phone first says "Verizon Wireless" then the phone rings, is there anyway to shut off the "Verizon Wireless" and just let the phone ring?
