System Settings Locked?

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this....

My son has an S4. I have Verizon Family Base on it (which totally sucks btw, don't waste your $$).

Anyway, he came to me the other day and he couldn't get into settings. It says "Settings is Locked". I didn't put this on there. A few minutes ago, it randomly let me in, so I checked all the usual, Device Admin, security, etc, and I can't find the root cause! It doesn't even give an option of "Forgot Password". I have no other security features, yet, on there. Has anyone else run into this?

This isn't a lock screen issue or PIN/Password issue. Also, no app locker of such. It literally pops up and says "Settings is Locked"

His Device Manager is set, and working. I've never seen this before.

this is "Settings" on the S5 phone itself?

you are NOT talking about the Verizon website?
there are a lot of control features available there, but none of them would effect the phone itself.


has his phone somehow got an Administrator activated on it? I made it a point to NOT do that.


Worst case, do a Factory Reset and start all over. But if you elect to do this, make sure all the data is backed up first.

Had the same issue. Settings were in AVG Pro app. Under "privacy", "app lock"
