I have no space on my phone (Galaxy J7) at all. I dont know what the system/user data is or why it takes up so much storage. Despite looking far and wide through my files, I cant find anything even remotely large. Help please!
EDIT: Phone's total storage space is 16GB and images only account for 900MB. What else could be taking up my space?

Hi Welcome! How much storage the phone comes with ? System and user combination of the system can take about 7 or 8gb and rest is you with apps and pictures. So looks normal to me

The system uses a proportional amount of space for system files depending on how much total storage you have. The rest is your stuff.

Welcome to Android Central! There are a lot of similar questions about this for Samsung phones, but I haven't found a satisfactory explanation yet. In the meantime, try wiping the cache partition: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/de...axy-j7/wipe-cache-partition-samsung-galaxy-j7

Also, go to Settings>Apps, and select Google Photos. How much storage is that taking up?

Another thought -- do you have any kind of backup app that's backing up to the phone's internal storage?

From a PM sent to me by the OP:

"1. I cleared the partition thingy, didn't seem to do much.2. I don't have google photos
3. I dont understand what you mean by a back-up app"

Android has its own built-in backup system through Google (https://support.google.com/android/answer/2819582?hl=en), and Samsung has its own as well (www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00060517/), but there are 3rd party backup apps as well. I was asking if you had installed a 3rd party backup app (which you most likely didn't, since you don't know what I'm referring to), since I recall this being a potential culprit.
