Just made the switch from Verizon to T-Mobile and I'm having a problem with visual voicemail. See screenshot for the problem that I'm having. A T-Mobile tech suggested I set up a dial in voicemail, which I did and I was able to access my voicemail that way but I shouldn't have to do that. The tech wanted me to download a T-Mobile visual voicemail app, but I shouldn't have to do that either.
I've tried clearing the cache of the phone app and force stopping it and powering off the phone. No luck. All apps are up to date and I'm on Android 13 with the September security patch.
Anyone have any ideas as to how I should proceed so I can play my messages?
(fyi The 1-805 phone number shown below is the dial in voicemail number for T-Mo).

Re: T-Mo visual voicemail P6Pro

Resolved by a T-Mo tech who knew what he was doing. Mods can lock.

How did you get the voicemail option in your phone app? The only way I get visual voicemail is through the T-Mobile visual voicemail app. I have an unlocked Pixel 6 Pro.

I get the voicemail app in the dialer on my unlocked Pixel 6 pro on T-Mobile

Did you have to turn on a setting or was it always there? I have never had the option in my phone app.
It was always there , that's strange you don't have it , definitely a TMobile sim not sub carrier that uses TMobile?

Definitely a TMobile sim and I bought the phone used on Swappa; it was listed as unlocked though. Could it be the visual voicemail app from T-Mobile?

No thats different

Open your phone app then tap 3 dots>settings>scroll to bottom is voicemail there ? Tap it toggle for visual voicemail?Screenshot_20220915-012942.jpgScreenshot_20220915-013124.jpg

That is so strange, try clearing Data then force stop the phone app and go back in those settings this will reset the app also uninstall the update 3 dots upper right corner tap uninstall update then go to play store update but try clearing data then force stop.Screenshot_20220915-014633.jpg

If you have any visual voicemail apps installed uninstall them and see if in phone app settings it appears?

I have an unlocked Pixel 56 Pro on T-Mobile, and I had Visual Voicemail out of the box.

I wonder if the phone might actually have been a Verizon model, and there's some kind of Verizon wonkiness that's preventing the native Visual Voicemail from showing up. See this thread: https://community.verizon.com/t5/Google-Pixel/Enabling-visual-voicemail-for-Pixel-6/m-p/1238915
These pixels are tough to tell if it unlocked/Verizon you know a way to tell is it by build number?
They bought on Swappa as Google unlocked

One way to tell if you go to developer settings if OEM toggle is greyed out then its not unlocked version

So I have uninstalled all visual voicemail apps on my phone, cleared app data for the phone app, and force stopped the app. My voicemail options now look like this; still no voicemail tab in the phone app though. Screenshot_20220915-042437.jpg
