T-MOBILE 6t Unlocking

If I unlock my TMO 6t, can I go to the OnePlus website/support, download the latest software and do a local update? My goal is to get direct updates from OnePlus and not have to wait for TMO to go through there certification process.

Yes you can . But make sure you do this once a new stable version comes after you have unlocked otherwise it wont allow you to update .

I'm not so sure it's that easy. I may be wrong. I do know there is a way to do it, but it requires flashing your device. I'll try and find the instructions and post them here.

No need to do anything but what's on that page. (Make sure you always, not just before a new ROM, have everything backed up. It's difficult to get the data off a hone when a truck runs over it.)

Awesome, Thank's for the link. I think the only thing needed is to make sure the device is unlocked.

Well, yes, you have to unlock the bootloader to install almost anything but an app. But that's pretty trivial.

Not to hijack but could I buy one from t mobile and use the provided steps and then activate on Verizon ??

once the SIM is unlocked, you should be able to, but why not just get the International directly from OnePlus

Just wondering, does it cost a lot more to buy, outright, the dual SIM global model from OnePlus as opposed to the single SIM T-Mobile variant in the USA?

In the UK the Black Mirror, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage model costs £529 (US$668) with our 20% sales tax, (VAT). The net cost is £441 (US$557)

T-Mobile (USA) model, here, costs US$580 + tax

OnePlus store, here, costs US$549 + tax

So, it would appear to be cheaper to buy the dual SIM, unlocked model, direct from OnePlus.

Go with unlocked version if anyone consider this phone. The reason must people jumped to T-Mobile is the promotion they ran when the phone first released.
