While 7UP is shaking things up by separating the phone subsidy from the service payment, being the LAST carrier to get the iPhone isn't anything to brag about (Cricket and Virgin beat them)! They need to get coverage outside of metropolitan areas if they want to compete with the big boys. Providence may be smiling on them though. Dish's bid for Clearwire isn't happening which means they're going to take their $10B in cash and go shopping for other opportunities in wireless. DT could gain access to Dish's spectrum and enough cash to finally bring their service to the suburbs with a network sharing agreement. The problem is that Dish is greedy and they want a partnership of equals - the same deal Sprint turned down. Still the clock's ticking on Dish's spectrum and as the FCC's use it or lose it date fast approaches they may start being reasonable.
