Just finished installing a July update on my S21 Ultra unlocked with T-Mobile. I hope it doesn't mess with the excellent battery life I was getting after an early June update. I could go 4.5 days between charges with low to medium use.

It states, "Security patch level: June 1, 2021", in your screenshot.

AUF5 is the update that most phones in the U.S.A. received last month.

With an unlocked phone your update doesn't come from tmobile it comes from Samsung. Please do a better job understanding and putting correct titles for post.

This is confusing to user who have their phones from tmobile. We still haven't received an update from tmobile since may 13th.

Alot of us think (myself included) that once you inserted a t-mobile sim card,it makes it a unlocked device that gets updates from the carrier that is on the sim card.

Ok, mine is locked to T-Mobile. That's why I haven't received it yet. I'm still on may 1st update. Why is T-mobile so slow?

April and May I was impressed with TMobile/Sprint doing updates early in the month. Since then....crickets.

Still on the May 1 Security patch. Locked S21 5G

As another user has said in another thread. It's probably because samsung has put out a series of updates not very far apart. It takes tombile time to test these updates before they push them.

I am hoping that tmobile is delaying pushing an update till the July security patch and adding all of samsungs fixes. It will probably be a rather big update if it ever comes haha.

I wish that was the case then you would all feel our pain of waiting haha. Tmobile and all the carriers are only responsible for updates to phones if they are locked to them.

This is why people with unlocked devices may not get access to carrier specific network features. Those are built into android by the carrier not the OEM.

One can hope. God forbid a carrier actually posts information to let users know what the plan is. Of course, they would have to have a plan to be able to do that. And actually care about the customers too.

<sigh>

Phones bought directly from t-mobile are locked to t-mobile's own update schedule. Buying factory unlocked version updates via Samsung regardless of what carrier its registered on.

Yes, the security update is from June 1. However, the last software update prior to this one on mine was June 12 and I believe it said AUF3. I read this forum nearly every day and check for updates at least every other day. Up until it downloaded this latest AUF5 on July 4 it kept saying that my software was up to date.

As I said in my other post, I just hope it does not mess with the battery life. I was getting over 4.5 days per charge with the AUF3 and I would like to keep it that way.

This update certainly did nothing to improve the battery life. Prior to May I was really pleased with the battery life. Not any more. I was hoping they would fix what they broke, but no such luck.
