He could not provide me with any details about orders or sale dates, however, he said he hoped that more details will be known by the end of this week.

They made a bigger mistake not releasing it this week before the iPhone

The release of the Note 4 was pre-determined months ago, even longer, and coincides with scheduled releases of previous Note models. If anything, it was Apple who maybe changed the release date of the iPhone 6 and 6+, in order to one-up Samsung.
