T Mobile Visual Voicemail

Is the pre-installed T-mobile Visual Voicemail needed? Or can I disable it? Is this the only way to receive Voicemails?

It's the only way I know how to review voicemail.

You dont need to use visual voicemail and can just dial into it like normal. Not sure why anyone would not want to use visual voicemail though!
