So, maybe a silly question, maybe not, but... I see that HTC has T-Mobile and unlocked versions for sale. What's the difference, exactly? Put another way, is there anything specific that you get with the T-Mobile version that you can't get with the unlocked version?

On a related note, the new 128GB version is only unlocked.

Thanks in advance!

As far as I know there is no difference between the unlocked and the T-Mobile version.

Why would anyone buy a carrier locked version when there's an opportunity for unlocked?

Sure, I get that. That's really part of my question of what's different when you click the "T-Mobile" button versus the "Unlocked" button on the HTC order screen. If clicking "T-Mobile" means you're getting a phone that's locked to T-Mobile, then does that confer any advantages in terms of functionality?

If the answer is that all it does is lock the phone to T-Mobile but provides zero advantages, then of course, it's a no-brainer to buy the unlocked version.

No, they did that to cut back confusion to let u know it will work on that network, it just backfired and made things more confusing... Basically all those carrier versions are the same (they are all the unlocked version) only different one is the sprint version

Hah, okay. Yeah, makes sense in a twisted sort of way.
