Android Central Question

Hi
My Tab 3 was dead and wouldn't charge. I replaced the USB charging port. The tablet then charged fully. I turned it on and downloaded 4 movies. It was only turned on for about 30 minutes. After the movies downloaded, I turned the power off, now it won't come back on again. I have put it back on charge, there is no sign of anything happening.
I have tried the holding power button and volume up and down ect...and nothing.
Any ideas. ????

I have to mention, I ordered a new battery that arrived in a jiffy bag ! I did put the battery in but nothing happened , I thought the battery may have been damaged in transit due to the poor packaging, so I put the old battery back in. The old battery was in when it charged to 100%

Welcome to Android Central! The batteries might just be old and failing -- even the "new" replacement battery, which has likely been sitting on a shelf for several years.

Where did you download the movies from? If they were from a "free" movie download site, those are usually pirated (a no-no here), and more likely to carry malware.

You may have done a bad job of replacing the port, so it may be disconnected again. Check it. (Check the continuity between each pin and something farther down the line - without putting any pressure on the pin.)

My P5210 Tab-3 was still new in the original box sitting on some dusty old shelf in Oct. 2024. I had it plugged-in for 2-weeks. Well, I forgot about it for the time. Yep, no dice. Then I recalled a trick. I placed the device in the freezer for 20mins. Let it thaw for 10mins. Plugged the USB cord in to charge. Got the funny charge icon to flash every 3 seconds. It took over 1-week at that point to full charge. Another tip, do not let the device fall below 20% charge. Higher than 20% allows for a faster charge. Lower takes 1-week again.

I did see the ability to change out the battery. But knowing my luck and fat fingers, I could never do the skin thin ribbon cable connection. So I opted the freezer trick I read about on the XDA site with the Tab-3. I guess there is a thermo sensor in the device to show it's operating temp and to allow the battery to charge. The freezer reset it somehow.

connect the tablet with a computer using the USB cable for one to two hours. This will charge the device and should prompt it to turn on.
