Android Central Question

Hi, my dad has had the galaxy tab 4 (7 inch) since its release and last week it wouldn't turn on unless it was plugged into the mains using the micro usb cable. It would be continuously stuck in a boot loop until you turned it off or the battery was depleated.

After a fairly small amount of research we decided to buy a replacement battery for the device.

The new battery arrived today so we set to work removing the old battery and replacing it with the new. At this point we figured it wouldn't do any harm. However, since the battery replacement the device will turn on but turn straight back off (sometimes after a minute).

After returning to the drawing board I decided to try wiping the cache and after that made a feeble difference I moved on to formatting the device from the recovery options.

Neither of these methods work and I'm just stuck unable to set up the device as it powers off by the time I have to connect to a network... which after more research I have seen post suggesting that it could be what's causing the shut downs (it's usually around the network point that it shuts off).

At this point I'm tore between classifying the device as bricked and trying to salvage the train wreck. Does anybody have any ideas on how this could be fixed? I was thinking maybe reinstalling the firmware and hoping for the best but there's a risk (even more the usual due to the sudden shutdowns) of bricking the device further.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
