My new Tab A does not recognise a sim card when it is inserted everything else is fine . What could be the reason for this?

What is the make of SIM card? Mobile devices can be quite sensitive to the quality of SIM cards. I don't have problems with Samsung and SanDisk cards. A friend who had problems with his Tab S and SD cards switched to SanDisk and hasn't had problems since. Even if the card works in other machines doesn't necessarily mean it'll be happy in this one.

I suggest trying other cards if you have them. I've test mine is working with a SanDisk Ultra 32GB SDHC, a Samsung 64GB SDXC, and a SanDisk Ultra128GB SDXC.

are u serious? you literally typed sim card and you're talking about sd cards
