Tab s3 headphone jack problem

I ve been watching alot of videos on kodi loaded on my tab s3 and i ve noticed that on numerous occasions when i start playing a new video the sound used to get cut off when my headphones are plugged in, the sound comes back on unplugging and plugging it back
earlier it used to happen only when using the kodi app so thought it was something to do with the app but today it happened when i was on youtube
quite frustrating, hope its some software glitch
anyone have any solutions?
