Did anyone make the move from a galaxy cab to the flyer? I'm wondering what you think? Thanks

I have a Tab and Flyer. Any specific questions get me know. I will say I think I will be keeping the Flyer and selling the Tab. The Flyer seems to have better build quality and I'm interested in using the pen.

Ditto. I have both a tab and the flyer and definitely plan on selling the Tab. Everything from the stability and the sense enhancements make it better. HTC has definitely done some great things with Sense.

I like most everything about the Flyer except for the scrolling. It seems faster and smoother on the TAB. The Flyer is jittery and slow to respond by enough to be annoying and I will likely return it because of it. I do really like the new sense and the pen. 480p video plays very smooth on the Flyer in a window or full screen - the TAB is very choppy.
The battery seems to be going down very fast on the Flyer. I fully charged it last night and haven't used it much more than an hour this morning and I'm down to about 2/3 battery.

I picked up the WiFi galaxy tab about three weeks ago on Amazon. Still have a week or so to return it, so I picked up a Flyer today at BB. Early impression on the flyer is that it's a nice tablet, but just not sure if its worth the $150 premium over the galaxy tab. Webpages do render faster on the Flyer, but scrolling isn't any smoother. Also, not sure I like the plastic pieces on the back. Another thing I don't like is the loose volume switches which rattle when your finger touches them, or how your index finger touches the camera lense when holding in landscape. A case is a must on the Flyer because its pretty slippery.

Gonna play with it a few more days, then need to decide whether to keep it or the Galaxy tab.

My girlfriend has a 7 inch Galaxy Tab I've played with quite a bit. Here's how I would break it down.

HTC Flyer Advantages

  • Obviously, the pen is only on the Flyer. You can get a capacitive stylus for the Tab, but it's just like using a tiny finger.
  • HTC has promised Honeycomb is coming for the Flyer. The 10 inch Tab will have Honeycomb, but the 7 inch will probably not. This might be important to you.
  • The Galaxy Tab uses a proprietary iPhone-style connector instead of USB. This is a HUGE bummer.
  • I do think HTC Sense is a million times better than TouchWiz.
  • It's subjective, but I think the speakers are better on the Flyer.

7 inch Galaxy Tab advantages

  • So far, there are far more accessories for a Tab. Cases, docks, etc.
  • The camera on the Tab is better, and includes an LED flash!
  • The Tab is a bit lighter and smaller, despite having the same screen size. Though I find the Flyer more pleasurable to hold.
  • The Galaxy Tab is far more reasonably priced.
  • The Galaxy Tab seems to have fewer little weird buggy moments.

I've noticed on the Flyer, I can cut and paste from emails, and I can't seem to do that on my Galaxy Tab. Another plus for the Flyer is that I've read it will be upgraded to Honeycomb at some point. From what I've read, I don't think that will happen with the Tab. Hell, I'm not even sure my Tab (wifi only version) will even get Gingerbread. Still on the fence about which one to keep though.

I have had the Tab since the first week it was issued and am using the Flyer now. I heavily use these devices for business and have to say in my opinion that the Tab has been really fantastic. The notes feature has been really useful while I'm sitting in meetings. Between just taking notes in the general notes tab to being able to just scribble on a PowerPoint has been extremely useful. Then having it sync to Evernote just puts it over the top.

And i have to say that I do like the fact that the pen doesn't press the buttons because it allows me to use my fingers to move things while holding the pen and there is no question of what I'm requesting the nite or device to do when I touch it with the pen or my finger...no stray pen marks from my finger and no accidental movements or taps of buttons based on me touching it with the pen.
