The Assistant command *TAKE A PICTURE doesn't work. The command opens the camera, but doesn't activate the SHUTTER. Does anyone know why? Thanks.

Re: Take a picture

Perhaps I haven't been thorough in my post. I fixed the problem by deleting the Camera app and reinstalled it. I avoided any updates by not installing them. The problem reappeared after I upgraded to Android 10. No matter what I tried, I can't fix it. I was just looking to see if others have the same problem. Have any of you tried to replicate the problem?

What do you mean by deleting the camera app and avoiding updates? Are you using a third party camera app as default? IIRC you can't uninstall the stock camera app.

Re: Take a picture

Well in his defense, it wasn't working for me until I installed v6.3 of Google camera. With the android 10 update, it back to not taking a picture on command , just opens camera with voice command "take a picture"

I'm going to edit the title to add that the problem happens after the 10 update.

I finally found someone with the same problem. To fix the problem before, I edited the notification file by 1. Turning off notification, 2. Disabled. 3. Forced Stop, 4. Cleared the cache.,and then re-enabled everything. After doing that, the Play Store continued to want to update Camera. I just ignored it and the TAKE A PICTURE worked until Android 10. If someone comes up with a solution, please let me know.

Solution is to ask Google fix the app to do what you want. Everything else is just work around that can't be trusted be reliable.

I have posted this problem on three different websites. Play Store, pixel site on the subject. I hope others do also. we'll see what happens?

It usually takes Google couple months to get the issue fixed after they acknowledge the issue at all. I found the only way to get Google's attention is post on Google Product Fourm.
