I've been on a mission to find my wife wireless earbuds that fit her well and handle calls reasonably well. Just tried the Jabra Elite Active 75t, which got great reviews from most sites, but the call quality was total crap -- when she made a test call to me, it sounded really muffled and soft. In addition, the kinds of earbuds that you have to stick inside the ear canal never work that well for her -- they're either uncomfortably tight, or fall out easily.

I found the 1st gen Pixel Buds on Woot for $45 (new, not refurb), so I figured what the heck, I'll get them. I know she prefers the fit of the wired Pixel earbuds that come with the phone (because they rest outside the ear canal, rather than inside it, which is different from the 2020 Pixel Buds). If she doesn't like these, then I'll just use them. I'm already overflowing with Google products, what's one more?:p

I was a little worried about complaints that putting the buds in the case was a pain, since it required winding the cord in a complex way, but I saw a video where you can just let the cord hang out and it's fine.

I have the wired type C version which is similar and love them. I like them because i can still hear around me and use them when i go for a bike ride but for other situations i use the pixel buds 2nd gen. If i could find the 1st gen I'd pick them up for bike riding and not have to have a wire. I just don't know if it's the same as the wired pixel c buds. The design is exactly the same and makes me think it is the same. I'm just not sure how reliable the Bluetooth is. But yeahs i would invest in a pair for that price for my use case.

Are you in the US? Then here you go!:D electronics.woot.com/offers/google-pixel-buds-your-choice-color-1?ref=w_cnt_lnd_cat_elec_5_7

That's takes me to a pixel buds thread for the gen2 i already have those. I was referring to gen 1 that the OP was thinking on purchasing.

I'm the OP;). The link for me goes to the 1st gen, the one with the cord that connects the two buds together. What if you cut and paste this into your URL bar? electronics.woot.com/offers/google-pixel-buds-your-choice-color-1?ref=w_cnt_lnd_cat_elec_5_7
