Taking the phone away from your ear lights up the screen

On previous phones and software releases, when you removed the phone from your ear while on a call the screen would light up automagically. On the S10+ with the current software, this no longer happens. I have looked for a setting to turn this feature on, and I don't find one. Anyone have any experience with this?

I see the same thing, I have to hit the power button to bring screen back to life so I can hang up a call.

On my Note20U it's working normal on andriod 11 One UI 3.1, there no settings to adjust the proximity sensor , make sure it's not blocked by a case or screen protector , if no screen protector make sure the screen is clean on top.where it's located

No screen protector on the front of the phone, just the back and sides. In the older releases there used to be a setting that said to turn on the screen when the phone is moved from the ear and I don't find that setting anywhere.

That was on older Samsung and andriod version , it would be located in the phone app settings

Just looked again to make sure I didn't miss it earlier, and it is definitely gone from the call settings.

Yeah thats where I remembered it in past being there , but try safe mode mode and see if it works properly

Well that is weird. I went to safe mode per your advice and tried it and it worked. So then I went back to regular mode and it still works. I guess I just needed the reboot, but I don't think it has worked in a long time and I'm sure I've rebooted once in a while. Thanks for the clue.

Sometimes going into safe mode fixes issues , it's strange but glad its all good.

Hmm, I thought it worked as it should on my S10. Next time I'm on a call, I'll move the phone away from my ear and see what happens.

My S10 does the same thing.

How do you access safe mode?
Long press the power button until power off shows up.on the screen then long press the power off on the screen until safe mode appears and tap, to exit out of safe mode just simply reboot the phone

Thanks. You are always very helpful.

Booting into "Safe Mode" fixed the issue.

As an aside, my Duck Duck Go widget, Calender Events widget, Retro Clock and Date widget and AccuWeather widget all disappeared as a result. Got them restored and all is well.
