I'm new to smart-phones, why is it set up this way?

I'm asking because I was talking on the phone via Bluetooth device and decided to browse the web (er, yah know...multitask). This was not possible. Only SMS Texting was possible.

That's because VZW's current 3G network doesn't allow simultaneous data and voice transfer. It should be able to using Wifi though. I can't test cuz I don't have Wifi at my home.
When VZW releases it's LTE 4G coverage area starting next year it will be a different story however.

Ah... I see.

Also WiFi does work. BUT there's a catch:

WiFi works if I am connected before a call takes place.

IF I try to connect to WiFi after a call starts I can't access the web through the browser.

I only use the default MAIL app to connect to Yahoo! Mail. Mail through that App does not work even if WiFi is connected.
