Target phone receives duplicate text hours later

[Android Central Question]

Here is the scenario, I'm on Android using a G5 the receiver has an iPhone. The apparent problem is that the receiver receives the meme that I sent and then says receives it again several hours later. There is no indication on my phone that I sent the same text this individual says that they deleted it. So what I'm trying to figure out is if it is actually possible for someone to just receive the memes and not any of the other text messages. Both the sender and receiver are on AT&T is this possible...
