I have read a couple articles about Task Killers being pointless. I stopped using one a couple weeks after getting my Hero and after about 1-2 weeks i noticed an improvement in speed. Just now i saw another article and thought i would share it. You can find it here ==> Google and Cyanogen comments imply task killer/manager apps are pointless | Google Android Blog The article does point out that at one time they were needed for the older devices, but now they are no longer needed. Ive noticed many people on the forums saying that they are running one or another task killler and 1/2 the time its clobbering something thats necessary, etc. Hope this helps someone.. :D

There are circumstances that a Task Killer can be used, but not on a daily basis, to kill poorly written apps. Here is Flipz comments on that: **Edit** killing task starts midway into the post**

FAQ: Why is my Android phone running so slow? ? Geek For Me – Android CDMA Sprint Hero

Please note that I am not in favor of using a Task Killer (I justed wanted to provide a read on how a task killer can be used correctly). Sourcing the bad apps and closing them can be done through ADB.

Great point. I must admit that while i have used ATK in the past for situations like you stated, I'm with you in the fact that those really should be few and far between. Also I'm of the opinion that unless you know what your killing ... don't kill it. Cant tell you how many posts I've seen of "this feature is not working for me" and most of the time the end result is ... it's not working because you're killing it!!!!

Although we can sit here and tell people all day not to use it, we both know for a fact people are going to use it. That said, if you are going to use a TK, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE READ JERRY'S ARTICLE FIRST!!!!!
