Tasker- can't get GPS to turn on

Sorry to cross post but the verizon section of the galaxy nexus forum seems to get much more traffic than sprint.

I am trying to set up a profile and actions to have GPS turn on automatically when opening navigation. I have found a few set ups for this but nothing is working. I have tried this "fix" but still nothing:

New Context > "Navi" > Application > Navigation
New Task [+] > Tasker > If: %GPS~off
+ > App > Go Home
+ > Misc. > GPS: Set: ON
+ > Tasker > Wait > 50ms
+ > App > Load App > Navigation
+ > Tasker > End If

I have secure settings helper installed and the gps is green (enabled?) when looking through the settings. I am using CM10 nightly 20120915. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

From what I've read, the OS does what you are trying to get tasker to do. Leave GPS on and it sits dormant waiting to be used until a navigation or other program starts up the receiver.
