did you try simply rebooting ,, remove unecessary apps that maybe poorly written. uninstall task killer and leave it uninstalled

A daily reset is never a bad idea. Keeps things running smoothly. Also be sure to take a minute and read through the reviews of any apps you download from the market. Often times others comments may warn you of a battery hogging app. There is actually an app that resets your phone automatically at a certain time for you every night, that might be something that you may want to look into.

I've been noticing that lately too. I had advanced task manager installed and just uninstalled for good so we'll see how that goes. I noticed that when it's really lagging, I go to reset and it prompts me with a message warning me that resetting will clear any temporary files. I went to application manager and cleared the cache on email, messages etc. Seems to be better now!

Emmm... Is this an Android issue or Thunderbolt? I mean, why do you need to RESET your phone on DAILY basis?

The single best thing I have ever done for battery life on any Android phone was to ditch the task killers.... unnecessary and cause more problems than they solve.

Just like a computer or really ANY electronic device today. It refreshes the system.... Gains all the memory back, ends any app that may have been hanging for any reason etc.... Its just the way it is with current tech. Either you embrace it or hate it.

Restart would be a better word. It's just a good idea to do. Like restarting a computer. It also resets your network connection.

But I don't restart my computer everyday. I do "re-spring" my iPhone once in a while. Was there an issue with the Thunderbolt such that the device become so laggy it's unusable if you don't reset it everyday?

Sorry for the noob question, but I am thinking of getting the Thunderbolt and this issue concerns me.

You are going to have this issue with ANY modern smartphone that has true multitasking (what the iPhone 4 does is not really multitasking, with only a few exceptions that must be written a special way to work, the iPhone is really only capable of doing ONE thing at a time and everything else in the B/G just waits for it to be brought up again).

Comparing the iPhone to the Thunderbolt is like comparing the old Windows 3.x to Windows 7... they are not even in the same league when it comes to performance.

I find that my phone lafs occasionally bit ends up going away on its own. These phone work like mini compiters nowadays andevery few days on mu nigjtly charge i just restart it. Just make ita habit.

No. I don't reset my phone everyday. If I notice it starting to lag a bit, I simply restart it then. I don't restart my phone just to prevent lag, I just do it when I notice lag (which isn't very often).

I may not notice when it "lags" as much as others because I came off of Storm and towards the end of its tenure with me it got so bad that I simply stopped trying to do anything on it aside from texting and Facebook. I wouldn't even dream of going on the web with that thing and it took SO long to boot up that I just stopped doing battery pulls altogether and dealt with just using Facebook and texting.

What happens is that apps take up ram, and do not give it all back when they are closed.
So overtime your phone will have less and less ram available, and it will start to lag a bit. Restarting the phone clears all the ram, so this is why it's recommended once in a while.

With 768MB of ram on the Thunderbolt, I only restart mine once a week.

This isn't normally necessary anymore unless you experience a rogue app. Android will kill background processes that are not needed.
