Teach me your ways to get better battery life!

I've seen some discussions with mentions of 5+ hours of SOT, while I'm getting just over 3 and low battery warnings. Looking at the usage nothing stands out to me as unusual consumption, so how come some of you are getting far better?

Whats your signal quality? Your screen shots show nothing really amiss...but through other threads I realized I had a small issue with signal quality causes a burn of my battery.

Disable everything you don't use I suppose.

The things that stick out to me in your pics are facebook and Bluetooth, neither is good for battery life.

And bluetooth I am "rarely" connected but I hate the idea of enabling/disabling it when needed. Hmm

If you want obscene battery life you have to use it like a dumb phone. Basically have the most advanced phone available with no Bluetooth, location services, bright screen or LTE. Otherwise...3 hours is awesome.

Dont assume; look at the graph under your power settings it will give you a good idea. Also GSam has a good graph that you can stretch to see quality almost by the minute. If you are battling quality somewhere it could be an uphill battle.

I agree with this. I am so done with turning things off. My phone has everything lit up so it does what it can. If I have to plug it in at some point, which I have not yet, so be it.

Yeah I might just have to carry down this path and deal with it!

I keep everything turned on... Wi-Fi, high accuracy GPS, Bluetooth, and keep brightness around half. My phone usually sits between 20% and 30% at the end of 15 hours with around 6 hours of screen on time. I have good signal at home... Decent at work(96dBm on LTE)

I'm not sure how 3 hours of screen time happens. That's nuts. App related? I do have Facebook messenger installed but not Facebook. Bunch of games, fantasy football apps.

These are the things i always tell my friends if they want to have great battery life.

1) Don't let your battery go below 19%. So basically keep the device topped up with juice.
2) Keep your cellular signal locked to 3G. This helps extend battery life.
3) Use WI-FI where you can and disable mobile connection.
4) Lower Brightness (if applicable)
5) turn off any location based services that are not required.

Yup so basically all this. Nah, I'm good with 3 hrs SoT (Although I do tend to agree with not letting battery drop below 20% when possible.)

i disagree to an extend that you have to disable to get good battery life.

my wifes pixel has all that enabled(even have android wear connected) and she get about 4 and half hour of screen on time on a single day
if she uses it for that long or 2 days standby with 3 hour screen on time

Also in Toronto. On Telus network. I use Facebook a ton and the battery life doesn't look that bad. :-/
I don't use Bluetooth and only device based location setting. Brightness less than medium.
Chrome drains my battery pretty quickly though.

Finally got mine. I'm doing nothing to extend battery life. All radios are on all the time. Background is all enabled. Brightness at 40%. I've been getting 5 hrs sot. This thing is amazing!!!!

Shutoff Bluetooth if you're not using it. Shut off push notifications if you can. Keep off mobile data as much as possible. Set screen brightness to 50%. Shut off location services. Once you you have done all this ask yourself "why did I buy a smartphone?"
