I can't find the article anymore, but they listed the plus it as South Korea only. First article that listed it as definite, but hopefully just speculation.

Edit: found the article and posted the quote below

Here is the quote from tech times:

"Unfortunately, users who might be planning to go with the LG V30 Plus instead of the LG V30 will be disappointed, as the LG V30 Plus is only planned to be released in South Korea"

Well, that's one way to endear LG to the US market. Lately that's been happening with other companies like the Moto Z2 Force having more RAM for markets outside the US.

Someone has to explain to me why its necessary to make derivative models for different markets.

Im really going to hope the article and quote I mentioned was just speculation. If I am going to spend around $700 to upgrade a v20 I don't see any reason why I wouldn't just spend another $175 for the full upgrade and the v30 Plus. It would seem a really odd business play to make mention of this LG Plus in almost every article I've seen but not have it released in the US. But I'm not LG so I don't know what the motivating factors are.

I really don't understand. You'd think it'd keep cost down for production if they made the same model for all.

With that said I could care less. I'll choose a phone in the market I live in to replace my dated MXPE and I'll enjoy that phone. I'm not gonna sit and complain that China, Korea or Russia may have different specs.

From a business standpoint, LG usually makes money selling low end or mid range phones, probably more than flagships. The premium version might not sell well in the US so they probably won't sell it here. LG is well known from prepaid carriers like Metro PCS, everyone else doesn't know about LG.

I don't buy that people won't buy it here. If they made one high end model and charged just a little more they could still make a ton of money. Ram is not that expensive and neither are wireless charging coils.

My only real concern is the HIFI DAC. I don't care if its different as long as it includes it otherwise I'll stick with my V20

All indications list an improvement in sound system from the V20 but hasn't said much else. It might drive me bonkers knowing there is an even better sound system than the regular V30 if US doesn't get it.

It could be like the V20 where there certain areas got the same DAC, but with B&O tuning. If that's the case I'm not too concerned even though those that tried both claim the B&O sound profile was better.

I wish they really released the premium versions like the G6+. Don't know if many people would buy it though, everyone is on that S8 infinity display hype.

From Pocket-Lint on V30 plus:

"It is a larger model designed to go head to head with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 - expected to be unveiled next week, on 23 August - but unfortunately there are no plans for it to come to Europe or the US"

Limited info trickling out but Ive yet to find anything saying it will come to US. Bummer

Note to those who want to import it, make sure it has the correct LTE networks or be willing to live without LTE. ;)

The regular model can go head to head with the Note 8, since for the most part they appear to be the same device with slightly different features.

If the V30+ is designed to go "head-to-head" with the Note 8 then they should seriously consider a worldwide release. Otherwise it's barely competing if it's only being released into a single market.
