TeleNav and Google Nav

In my Blackberry days, I used Sprint's TeleNav service for navigation. It was OK, but froze up quite a bit. When I came to Android, I became quite happy with Google's navigation beta and have used it exclusively. But TeleNav recently announced some upgrades to their service, a new UI, etc., so I decided to give them a try again.

First impressions of TeleNav are pretty good, but what I really want to do is more or less a comparison of the two services by having one navigate me to a location and the other navigate me back home. Trouble is, with TeleNav installed on my Nexus, Google Nav won't work. Period. Force closes every time. Uninstall TeleNav, Google works like a charm. Put TeleNav back on the phone, Google crosses its legs and won't play.

Any ideas what might be causing this? I don't have either service set as a default nav system. I'd like to be able to keep them both on the phone and be able to choose which to use. Thanks for any suggestions.

don't think there's a way.. looks like you're gonna hafta use TeleNav to get there and then uninstall it to use Google on the way home - although i have NO idea what might be causing that.. never heard of it before..

in the end, i think you'll find that Google wins every time. Faster, looks better, gets updates faster, traffic works like a charm, not to mention all the other layers and labs there are, plus you have integration with your Google account for starred places, Latitude, etc.

I like telenav better at the moment because it gives you separate options for routes you can take. Google nav wont do that and only directs you one way. This is helpful when you know some of the local traffic and some ways may be faster than others. I've found that google nav seems to overestimate the time to destination more often than not by at least 10-20%.

Not true - there is an option for alternate routes- it usually gives you 3 different ones, one by fastest time, one by shortest distance, and I haven't found out what the other one is
