telus : S2 X how to enable the security password/ pattern

hi i'm new to this forum. I have a S2 X and I have so many problems with it
it drains the battery within half a day
I cannot lock my screen - anyone could access / not secured at all
gps navigation take a while to initiate the sattelite location

I up graded to the ICS using the samsung Kies software
