temp root?

Alright, I'm having an issue with my touch screen so I'm going to be taking my evo to the sprint store to get it replaced.. So i un-rooted.

I'm not sure when i'll be able to get to the sprint store...

What I want to know, is there a way just to temp root.. long enough to give titanium back up sudo to restore my backed up apps.

I remember back in the day unrevoked had a temp root... but that was on 2.1

is there still a temp root around?

Yes, use Z4 root.

Do you have appbrain? That'll give you the apps but not settings. Better than nothing tho right?

Have you tried restoring w/out root? As long as you have unknown sources checked it might work?

You can also try the rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin but only do the part with that binary and nothing else and you should have root just for that boot ([GUIDE] How to root Android 2.2 on the EVO 4G Outdated - xda-developers)

Low Speeds? Lag? whats the issue?

Can't connect in areas where I was able to connect before. The other day I went with my friend to a Sprint store. He was actually having the same problem. Well the rep at the store turned her 4G on and she had 3-4 bars. She was getting around 8mb/s too in the FCC app. We tried turning ours on, and it wouldn't connect. It would say connecting then drop back to scanning. What's weird is every time we turned on 4G, we'd get a notification that a 4G network was available. I couldn't turn my phone in because it was rooted, but he had already unrooted so he did. He got a replacement two days later. Wat sucks though is not he can connect to 4G.. but he can't get on any sites or anything. Like he'll have bars and everything. But when he tries to go online or anything else nothing happens. So I dunno... my USB port is also loose as hell. If I plug my usb in and hold my phone up it'll fall right out.

I have that issue sometimes with connecting to sites

I usually do a hot restart and all is well

but that happens to me switching from 3/4G to Wifi

doesnt bother me

Like ive said before im determined to be the last OG with a 0002

It doesn't seem to work for me. It goes through the rooting process fine, I get the superuser icon but Titanium backup & Wireless tether give me a "Root required" message

Z4root works for me on my Evo.Superuser permission. Wireless teather that's another issue.

I'm back. You guys with the full root please don't be mad. Simple root is good to me. I deleted bloat ware,got tethering and swype on my Evo. The best part it's temporary.

I hope I encurr a situation that requires me to potentially get the new Evo Shift... I love mY Evo but I definitely want to get my hands on the shift...
