So I went to Best Buy this evening and test drove a tab. I must say I'm extreamly impressed. I'm actully thinking of selling my iPad just to get a tab. The only thing I'm not sure is the 7" screen. Sure its smaller, but I already own a 4.3" phone. three inches more is not much and it would fell like owning two of the same. I know that motrorolla is a 10" one, but I had some bad experience with motorolla in the past, including a battery that almost caught fire if I didn't throw my phone down on the ground (it was too hot to remove manually)

After two months of owning an android device, I must say I like android, and I was a REAL anti android before the EVO.

I've got an EVO, I'm not all that sure about th Galaxy tab either. What's the point in a device with a screen that's only 3 inches bigger?

See on the way home, thats what I started to think. I love my iPad, but after owning the EVO for two months, I'm getting sick of Apple's limitations.

i have and iphone, ipad and a Gtab. I love the ipad, but there are just to many limits just like you stated as well for the iphone. The gtab is simply awesome. The screen size is not really that bad, it is light, can fit in my jacket pocket or my jeans pocket. It will play more video formats and it is not restricted to itunes like the ipad is. I have truly enjoyed the gtab alot more than the ipad.

The Tab is awesome. Look in any other forum and see how many people are *****ing about their device. Not here.

7 inches plus higher Res screen equals a totally different experience than your phone. My X feels tiny now which is fine because the tab fits in my pocket.

Tab @ Costco

Last week I told you that I test drove the tab. The only problem was it was tied down. not to the counter, but enough that you ell if you move it the alarm will go off (that has happend to me at best buy before), so today I went in to costco and saw the cardboard deals for the tab. I went over to the Wireless advocates kiosk (the compney who sells the cell phones in Costco stores) and finnaly did a REAL test drive of the tab. Picked it up, turned it around with no alarm problems. held it in my hand and I was impressed even more then before. Best Buy the area was a bit dark, and of course it was tied down. The one costco had was the Verizon version. $499 and no contract. You just pay month to month. T took out my EVO and did a comparson,. not much difference, but I still like the size. I mean if you took the evo and placed it horzalnalty, its almost fits the tabs width.

iI like the fell of it. If I do device to get a tab, it may be a sprint one since I'm already on sprint. first question, do you have to have a data plan with it, and if so, wouldn't it be cheeper to just enable the mobile hotspot on my EVO and run off that?

That's your call, I went with the data plan because to me it's all about convenience. If I have to turn on mobile hotspot on my phone and be wary of it's battery life every time I want to get on the tab while on the go, that'd just be a pain. But the monthly savings may be worth it to you, I don't know. I also reduced my data plan on my phone so in a way I'm breaking even. Obviously none of this matters if you are near a wireless signal a lot. Also Sprint just dropped the price of theirs and I think it's now the cheapest one, good timing. :)

From 4.3 inches diagonal to 7 inches diagon isn't "a little" bigger, it's like 3 times bigger. I'd take a picture but I don't have a third camera.
Are HTC EVO owners buying the Samsung Galaxy Tab?

I have the Evo and if it didn't have 4g tethering, I'd think about replacing it with a feature phone because the Tab is easy to carry around all the time, and it does everything the Evo does, and doesn't cost me a monthly fee. But alas the Evo is fricken brilliant too, so I tether the Tab through the Evo and I get better throughput than wifi.

So the Tab has replaced my laptop most of the time. Takes notes in meetings, display's reference data off webpages, let's me IM with friends off the corporate network, tether's with the bluetooth keyboard so I don't feel bad replying slow to a chat, it's excellent.

The 2GB Sprint SGT data plan and the Evo hotspot plan are both $30/mo. The latter is more flexible but not as convenient. Plus, if you get a call on your Evo, it will knock your SGT off the internet if you're on 3G (not sure about 4G).

I have the Evo and the SGT, and the SGT is much bigger to me. The screen is 2 1/2 times bigger with 60% more resolution -- 720p video is super sweet on the SGT while the Evo can't even play back 720p mkv files. I've completely stopped watching videos on the Evo because they look tiny and terrible in comparison.
