I have a Verizon Note 5 with a subscription to Mobile Hotspot (I don't want to use FoxFi). Does anyone know the answer to the following question:

If I travel to a foreign country and purchase a prepaid SIM from a foreign carrier, will I be able to use Bluetooth tethering, USB tethering, or (somehow) Wi-Fi tethering, using the foreign carrier's data service? Or do I have to use roaming Verizon data and Verizon Mobile Hotspot at the exorbitant 100MB/$25 rate in order to get any tethering?

Thanks!

Depending on where you are, Verizon will let you use your domestic data package internationally starting at $2/day.

Not sure if hotspot works or not though.

I'd ask Verizon if a SIM from a foreign carrier would work, I would think that your phone would have to be unlocked and if you're still in a contract with the phone they may not unlock it.

The Note 5 from Verizon is unlocked out of the box.

It is indeed factory sim unlocked. Swapping sims won't be a problem, just not sure if hotspot would work

For what it's worth my international sim worked in the states under the pre paid sim I had in my phone.
