Tethering speed?

If I were to sign up for a tethering plan ($30), can I expect the same speed as I get when using SpeedTest.net app on the phone? I'm getting 1.1 mbps on the SpeedTest, which is twice as fast as my current ISP connection.

It should be close to the same speed you get with the speed test app unless you are using data on your phone at the same time.

BTW...I hope you are gettimg 1.1 mbps, not kbps

Try PDANet first. It's a free app that does practically the same thing. Thing is, you have to be connected to your computer in order to use it. Haven't used it myself, I have no need for it. Heard some good things about it though.

My experience is that I get about 50% of my speedtest speed (with 4G)

Yes, PDANet works great, but it's not totally free. It has a free trial for 2 weeks, then it's $10 to buy. You can keep using it for free after the trial but you won't be able to access secure (https) sites. Still better to pay $10 once instead of $30 a month.
